How to Introduce Yourself for Nonspeaking Individuals

Use this social story to help your child understand how to introduce themself to someone while using their AAC Device or Sign Language!

When I meet someone new, I can introduce myself to them.
I can sign or use my AAC device to say, "Hello!"
They might reply, "Hello!" back to me.
Then I can share my name. This way, they will know what to call me when we interact.
I would sign or use my AAC device to share, "My name is ___!"
They might reply with their name to me so I know what to call them.
When we are done interacting with each other, I can sign or use my AAC device to communicate, "Goodbye, it was great to meet you!" Now that we have introduced ourselves, the next time I see them, I can just sign or share on my AAC device, "Hello! Great to see you again!" When we introduce ourselves to new people, we learn their names, share ours, and begin to build connections to others!Download Now!
