Salt Dough Heart Pendant Your kiddo can create the perfect handmade gift for their loved ones with simple ingredients from the kitchen! The sensory craft allows your autistic kiddo's creativity and decision-making skills to be put to use while also working on fine motor skills. What You'll Need:
2 cups flour
1 cup salt
3/4 cup water
Heart-shaped cookie cutter (optional)
Paint
Glue (optional)
Glitter, gems, or sequin (optional)
Yarn, crafting chain, or string Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 250 degrees.
Mix your flour and salt in a large bowl before slowly mixing in your water.
Once a dough forms, knead your dough with your hands.
If using a cookie cutter, roll out your dough with a rolling pin and use your cookie cutter to cut out heart shapes. If you're not using a cookie cutter, take small pieces of dough and shape them into flat hearts with your hands.
Add a small hole to the top of your pendants where your chain will go.
Place your pendants on a baking tray and bake in the oven for 1 to 2 hours until the dough has dried.
Once cooled, it's time to paint and decorate each pendant.
Allow your paint and decorations to dry completely before adding the chain to your pendant. They are now ready to gift to your kiddo's loved ones! Notes: If your dough is too dry, add a bit more water. If your dough is sticky, add a bit more flour.Download Now!
