Apple Crumble Waffles: This tasty recipe is a sweet opportunity for autistic kiddos with existing foundational skill sets to work on more complex skills such as multitasking, following a longer list of directions, and focusing on fine motor skills. Always be sure to supervise even your most advanced junior chefs. Being a present sous chef is a must! Apple Crumble Topping Ingredients:
-1 cup and 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
-3/4 cup brown sugar
-1/2 cup granulated sugar
-1 teaspoon baking powder
-1 teaspoon salt, divided
-1 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
-8 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
-1 tbsp lemon juice
-2 lbs. Granny Smith apples Instructions: 1. Begin by peeling and coring your apples. If your kiddo is assisting, ensure you teach them the proper way to use a peeler and monitor as they go. Alternatively, you can use the peeling and coring attachment on a standing mixture to speed up the process. Dice your apples into small cubes and set aside. 2. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
3. In a bowl, add 1 cup of flour, 3/4 cup of brown sugar, 1 teaspoon of baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon. Give the ingredients a good mix. 4. Pour 8 tbsp of melted butter into the bowl and mix until your mixture starts to clump together, forming your crumble topping. Once mixed, set aside. 5. In a bowl, add your diced apples with 1/2 cup of granulated sugar, 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, 2 tablespoons of flour, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Mix well to coat the apples with the other ingredients. 6. Layer your apple mixture into a baking dish and top with your crumble mixture before baking for 30 to 40 minutes. Cinnamon Waffles Ingredients: -2 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
-1 tbsp baking powder
-3 tbsp granulated sugar
-1/2 tsp salt
-1 tsp ground cinnamon
-2 eggs, separated
-1/2 cup vegetable oil
-2 cups milk
-1 tsp vanilla Instructions: 1. In a bowl add 2 1/4 cups of flour, 1 tbsp of baking powder, 3 tbsp of granulated sugar, 1/2 tsp of salt, and 1 tsp of ground cinnamon. Whisk the dry ingredients until well incorporated.
2. Separate the yolk from the egg whites in a separate bowl. Set the yolk aside and beat your egg whites until you get stiff peaks using a mixer. 3. To your yolks add 1/2 cup of oil, 2 cups of milk, and 1 tsp of vanilla. Mix well and then pour into your dry ingredients. Continue to mix until well incorporated. 4. Take your egg whites and fold them into your batter. Be gentle as to not knock the air out of your egg whites too much. 5. Depending on the size of your waffles iron, add about 1/2 cup of batter once hot. This recipe should create about 8 waffles. To keep waffles warm, place them on the very bottom rack of your oven or in the microwave until ready to enjoy. 6. Finally, add a scoop of your apple crumble topping to your waffles and enjoy!Download Now!
