Back-to-school means there are so many new things to learn! Try out a craft that allows your autistic kiddo to share what they're excited to learn while practicing fine motor skills by cutting, gluing, and writing. What you'll need:
- Red construction paper
- Green construction paper
- Scissors
- Glue
- Colored pencils or markers Instructions:
1. Hold your red construction paper landscape and cut it down the middle to create two even pieces. Repeat with two more sheets of paper, giving you six total pieces.
2. Take each of your cut pieces of construction paper and fold them down the middle.
3. On one of your folded pieces, use a pencil to draw half of an apple, or a backward C, starting from the edge where your paper folds.
4. Cut out your apple half and use it as a stencil on your remaining five folded pieces of construction paper. 5. Use a colored pencil or marker to have your kiddo write what they are excited to learn this school year on the inside of each folded apple.
6. On your green construction paper, draw a stem and leaf for your apple.
7. To create your apple, take your glue stick and apply it to the outside of your folded piece. Grab another folded piece and stack them onto one another to join. Repeat this with each piece until you have stacked all of your pieces.
8. Before joining the first apple with the last, apply some glue to your steam and place it on the outside of your folded apples.
9. Then, apply glue to the outside of your folded apple and join the two sides to create your 3D apple!Download Now!
