Homemade Ice Cream

Cool off this summer with a homemade sweet treat your kiddo will love creating!

Homemade ice cream Cool off this summer with a homemade sweet treat your kiddo will love creating. Cooking provides an opportunity for skill-building and sensory exploration. As children with autism have certain smells, tastes, and textures they may be unfamiliar with, making simple recipes in the comfort of their homes allows a space for them to explore. Our recipe is customizable, feel free to use the type of milk your family prefers and a variety of different toppings! What you'll need:
- Quart-size Ziploc bag
- Gallon-size Ziploc bag
- 1/2 cup rock salt
- Ice cubes Ingredients:
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- Toppings of choice Instructions:
1. Mix your cream, sugar, and vanilla until well incorporated. Pour the mixture into your quart-sized bag and remove the air before sealing.
2. Add your rock salt to the gallon bag and fill it with ice cubes until it is about half full. Place your sealed quart-sized bag inside and seal the gallon bag.
3. Now it's time to shake things up! Allow your kiddo to shake the bag around and roll it across the table to mix the ingredients until they harden and create ice cream. 4. Once hardened, place your fresh ice cream into a bowl or a cone, add your toppings of choice, and enjoy!Download Now!
